The island of Solta offers many different varieties of dishes. During warm summer months, most meats and seafood are prepared on grill (barbecue) using wood, rather than coal. Recipes are simple, olive oil; parsley and garlic are used as a base for brushing the meat or seafood.
You will not find a home on Solta that does not have their own fireplace/grill called "komin", most are indoor so that they can be used during winter months and also as a place of social gathering to grill food and enjoy a glass of wine while playing cards.
The difference is from village to village, each restaurant has its own unique way of preparing foods for their guests. Even though there are menus to choose your meals from, it is best to ask the waiter/waitress what the fresh catch of the day is and customize your meals to suite your family/friends.

We suggest gastronomic trip through the island and also reccomend traditional restaurant KOMIN in Stomorska, owned by family Kalebić. Here You will savor tasty seafood dishes, prepared in traditional way, with domestic spices and olive of family Kalebić. You will also enjoy glass of good quality red wine of autihton black grape sort Dobricic, produced by Kalebić family. Or You can enjoy all varieties of pizzas at pizzerias RIVA and NAUTICA in Stomorska, too.
