History
From Romans and Greeks...
According to research, the Greeks name the island in the 4 th century. During that period Greeks colonized the Dalmatian coast, although difficult to ascertain these facts as little was recorded during that period.

The Roman Empire colonized approx. during the time Christ was born and thus they latinized the name from Solynth to “sol” meaning sun and named it Solenta. Other names used after that were Solentia and Solentium. In the 7 th century, the Croatians adopted the Dalmatian coast and through time the island became known as Solta.

Guests to the island can enjoy tours of archeological remains of the Greek and Roman era, the island is host to a historical museum, villages left behind in time, remnants of agriculture and tools still used today.
